Day in memory of the victims of terrorism, ceremony also in Bisceglie

On today’s Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Terrorism, Bisceglie also paid homage to Aldo Moro and all the victims of the terrorist massacres. A laurel wreath was placed in via Aldo Moro near the plaque dedicated to the native statesman of Maglie, in the presence of the political authorities (including the regional councilor Debora Ciliento), civilians and military. After the blessing and laying of the crown and the Liturgy of the Word officiated by Don Franco Lorusso, there was a greeting from the Mayor of Bisceglie, Angelantonio Angarano.

The ceremony therefore moved to via Martiri di via Fani, where another laurel wreath was placed, blessed by Don Francesco Dell’Orco, in memory of the agents of Aldo Moro’s escort.

“A civic duty but also and above all a spontaneous movement, a heartfelt and shared gesture – underlined Angarano. – The kidnapping of the great statesman, very attached to our territory, was one of the darkest moments of the Italian Republic. The dramatic story and its tragic end after 55 days of agony and tension throughout the country marked a turning point in national awareness of the need to vigorously defend democratic values. Today our thoughts also go to Peppino Impastato, barbarously murdered by the mafia on 9 May 1978, one of the symbols of the courageous fight against crime. The legacy of these great men pushes us to continue to commit ourselves daily to justice, legality, freedom and democracy”, concluded Angarano.
