Municipality of Ancona, Marche Region, Chamber of Commerce of the Marche, Polytechnic University of the Marche, Irbim-CNR, Banco Marchigiano, trade associations, economic operators. This is the large team of protagonists of the Doric Blue Economy gathered at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona to present the eleventh edition of Typicality in Blue which, in this 2024, is played on the theme “Sea, laboratory of the future”.
From the numerous interventions the importance of Typicality in blue as a strongly characterizing element of Ancona’s maritime identity. Among others who spoke: Goffredo Brandoni, Regional Councilor for the Budget, Angelo Eliantonio, Councilor for Major Events of the Municipality of Ancona, Gino Sabatini, President of the Marche Chamber of Commerce and Massimo Tombolini, General Director of Banco Marchigiano.
The format of the event has been completely revised, starting with the duration which even doubles, from the classic four to eight days, from 17 to 24 May. The distribution of the events is also unprecedented, embracing the entire city “from sea to sea”, from Marina Dorica to the Passetto, passing through the Mole Vanvitelliana and the network of venues adhering to the initiative which, for the entire period of the event they will propose special “blue menus” and “aperiblu”: the tasty “Testimonial” of this edition will be the sardone, a fish intimately linked to the Ancona gastronomic tradition.
We start in Marina Dorica with a weekend full of attractions! From Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May this symbolic place will become the “home” of Typicality in blue, with insights into boating, guided tastings ranging from typical Ancona specialties to balanced diets, from stockfish to alien fish species that have arrived in the Adriatic in recent years. An original tasting table dedicated to the wines of the “Vigneto Marche” will make its debut on Saturday and Sunday, organized by IMT-Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini e Food Brand Marche and, obviously, the “Sailing chef”, the original gastronomic regatta, will be proposed again which combines nautical sport and taste, sailing and cuisine!
For the entire duration of the event, the monumental Mole Vanvitelliana will host, among others, the exhibition “VANVITELLI AND ANCONA. Dreams, projects and revenge of a great architect”.
From 20 to 24 May, however, the event will penetrate the city until reaching the Passetto where, in the scenic setting of Unicorn, the “blue economy days” will be held. There are many projections towards the future, including the presentation, by the Polytechnic University of Marche, of a futuristic machine capable of converting plastics recovered from the sea into clean energy, but even with the hackathon “The Blue Way” , dedicated to young people to transform creative sea-themed ideas into projects for the progress and well-being of the environment, communities and people.
Typicality in Blue is organized by Imagina together with the Municipality of Ancona, in collaboration with the Marche Region and the Marche Chamber of Commerce. Scientific partner is the Polytechnic University of Marche, project partner is Banco Marchigiano. There is a large number of prestigious collaborations, starting with Irbim-CNR together with many leading companies in their respective fields.
