Animal Law Italia, ENPA (National Animal Protection Agency) and LAV (Anti Vivisection League) are pleased to invite citizens to the screening of the investigative documentary “Food For Profit”. Two screenings were organised: the May 14th at 8pm at the Opera Theater of the Sanremo Casino (free entry) and the May 15th at 9pm at the Cinema Centrale in Imperia. A precious opportunity for discussion, to discover together the truth behind the European food industry.

There vision will be followed by a debate moderated by Daria Vitale, responsible for farmed animals at Animal Law Italia, and will see the participation of Massimo Pigoni, Vice President of ENPA, Bianca Boldrini, responsible for the animal sector on LAV farms, and Professor Franco Manti, director of the applied ethics laboratory of University of Genoa.

The theme addressed in the documentary is crucial for the future of European politicsabove all in view of the next elections on 8 and 9 June. Public opinion considers animal welfare a priority, as highlighted by the 2023 Eurobarometer and by the numerous European Citizens’ Initiatives recently promoted to ask, among other things, for the overcoming of the use of cages on farms, and for the end of animal production. and marketing of fur in Europe. The two events represent a unique opportunity to explore the ethical and environmental challenges linked to industrial food production in Europe and to discuss concrete solutions for a more sustainable future that respects workers and animals.

In “Food For Profit”, viewers will be transported on an unprecedented investigative journey led by Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D’Ambrosi. Through a compelling cinematic approach, the documentary reveals the intricate link between economic interests, lobbies and political power in the European food industry. At the center are the billions of euros that Europe allocates to intensive farming, which does not respect animal welfare and pollutes the environment and represent a fertile breeding ground for the development of future pandemics.

In the 90 minutes of this documentary, Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo D’Ambrosi take us on an enlightening and shocking journey around Europe, where they will confront farmers, multinationals and politicians. With them a team of investigators who worked undercover on farms in the main European countries, revealing the reality behind the excellence of meat and cheese production. In Brussels, a fake lobbyist managed to bring a hidden camera with him during meetings with some MEPs, collecting shocking statements.

Food For Profit not only shows the horror of intensive farming and the conniving political protection they enjoy, but with a team of international experts it addresses the main problems linked to this type of industrial production: water pollution, exploitation of migrants, loss of biodiversity and antibiotic resistance.
