Next May 11, 2024, in the 1400s Hall of the University of Pavia, an important conference entitled will be held “Osteoporosis and fragility: knowing and recognizing them”. The event, promoted by Policlinico San Matteo and the ASST of Paviawill be an opportunity to highlight the importance of knowing and recognizing this pathology, involving both the medical world and patients and institutions.

Potentially severe disease

Despite efforts to ensure adequate management of osteoporosis and multidisciplinarity in treatment, the poor perception of this pathology as a potentially severe condition continues to represent a growing problem from the point of view epidemiological And socio-healthcare, especially considering the aging population.

The program of the day

The first part of the congress will focus on rfundamental role of the General Practitioner (GP) and on the preliminary results of the application of diagnostic-therapeutic-assistance path (PDTA) shared in Pavia as part of the PMultidisciplinary Osteoporosis Hospitals and Territory project (PrOMOTer). This project sees two regional third level centers active: that of the San Matteo Polyclinic Foundation, of which the doctor is responsible Laura Boglioloand that of ASST Pavia, at the Physiatry of the Broni Stradella Unified Hospital (with offices also in Voghera and Vigevano), directed by doctor Maria Cristina Caffetti, both scientific leaders of the Conference, together with Dr Giuseppe Giuffrègeneral practitioner and project coordinator for the Territory.

“In silence”

The event will also be the occasion for the prelude to one photographic exhibition entitled “In Silence”which will then be set up on the occasion of the world osteoporosis day (which occurs on October 20th), with the aim of further raising awareness among the population on this important issue.
