The Siena municipal council approves the settlement agreement which renews the concession for the next six years
The Municipality of Siena has approved a draft settlement agreement with the popular recreational club “The Crown” for the use of an area of parking of 2,740 square meters owned by the club.
Previously, in 1997 a contract was signed to grant the ten-year use of this area to the Municipality, with mixed use between the public (daytime) and the club (nighttime). This had led to difficulties in managing the public car park.
Despite the expiration of the concession in 2018, public use of the area continued over the years, leading the club to request an occupation fee. The Municipality then placed a pre-arranged restriction on expropriation on the area, reaffirming its desire to maintain its public use.
Thanks to the new agreement, the Municipality of Siena will use the area for 6 years, renewable for another 6, using it as public parking 24 hours a day, without limitations. This entails the termination of the preordained constraint on expropriation. The parking will be confidential only to carswith a ban on trucks, campers, caravans and camping.
