The minority presses the mayor of Cosenza on the maintenance of the roads affecting the city districts

The situation of various municipal roads worries the centre-right minority councilors in the civic assembly of Palazzo dei Bruzi

The same people, after having listened to the needs of various citizens and having carried out inspections, today presented a question addressed to the mayor of the Bruzio capital, Franz Caruso, regarding the poor maintenance of the municipal roads affecting the city districts, which appear to be abandoned to themselves, like the entire city.

The representatives of the minority let it be known that the question in question became necessary following the fact that many citizens of the city districts “complain about the difficult conditions and the difficult state of the roads due to the presence of significant potholes and chasms which make transit is difficult for road users and, in particular, for motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists”.

Most of the critical issues – they report – “are found in the areas of Portapiana, Tenimento, Badessa, Diodato, Pigna, Cozzo Presta, Ruggiero, Conca D’Oro, Lucido, Albo, Monterosa, Falco di Fiego, Colli, Timparello, Calacroce and Colla, where the conditions of the road surface are quite precarious and compromise both the safety of drivers and the safety of anyone traveling along the municipal arteries in question”.

And they add: “last year, some councilors who signed the question, have already taken steps to both report and point out to the councilor in charge with responsibility for the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of roads, through a specific inspection, all the aforementioned pitfalls as well as the poor or non-existent maintenance along the road networks of the hamlets”.

What has been highlighted – continue the minority councilors – “can seriously cause not only damage to vehicles in transit, but also unpleasant accidents to pedestrians, also taking into account the absence of pavements in some sections”.

The exponents of the centre-right – furthermore – point out “that this state of affairs denotes an evident form of inertia and disinterest of the current City Council towards the problems that afflict the hamlets and peripheral areas of the city, which instead in the recent past, and specifically by the previous municipal administration, they enjoyed careful and particular attention”.

The civic sense and responsibility towards the citizens – they conclude – pushes us to turn to the Mayor “to find out if it is the intention of this municipal administration to take immediate measures that can guarantee adequate maintenance along the aforementioned carriageways, as well as the timing and types of interventions that will be carried out to resolve road dangers and all the problems that afflict the more decentralized areas of the city”.

“We hope that our initiative can be useful in shining the spotlight on the hamlets and in particular on Donnici, which despite the promises of the electoral campaign, is completely forgotten and abandoned to itself by the current governing bodies”.
