Immersive musical and artistic experience at the Royal Palace of Monza

For those who want to immerse themselves in an evocative experience, they cannot miss “Rite“, the stimulating and unusual promenade concert scheduled Friday 10 May at 9.00 pm at the Royal Palace of Monza. Organized by the cultural association Musicamorfosi in collaboration with the Musica per Roma Foundation, it is part of one of the activities of the 12th edition of the festival Visionary Monzathis meeting-clash of contrasting sound architectures between the Sardinian musician will be staged Zoe Pia (clarinet, cowbells and launeddas) and Swedish Mats Gustafsson (baritone sax and flute). The two artists will give life to a ritual that will be a real break from the daily routine and an experience outside of normality.

The evening will also be a special opportunity to immerse yourself in the contemporary design of Contemporary Palacereorganization project of the Second Piano Nobile and part of the First Piano Nobile of the Villa Reale, with 100 works by the major Italian artists and designers, next to furnishings and paintings from the Savoy and Habsburg periods. A journey where the testimonies of the past are combined with the excellence of the present. The visionary museum itinerary (curated by the architect Renata Cristina Mazzantini) is linked to the initiative “Contemporary Quirinale”, a continuously evolving project strongly supported by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. The concert-promenade will therefore allow spectators to visit the spaces of the Palace from another perspective, admire the works of art in the exhibition and enjoy the sound experience proposed by the two brilliant musicians in a synesthetic way.

Before the concert, spectators will be able to take a aperitif at the Bistrot Reale. There are three options to choose from: the Savoia (Cuba libre or another drink of your choice and chips for €7), L’Umberto I (Cuba libre or another drink of your choice and a small plate of mixed aperitif for €15) and L’Imperiale ( Cuba libre or other drink of your choice, flute of prosecco and royal platter for €20).

The artists

Graduated in clarinet at the Cagliari Conservatory, Zoe Pia she then specialized in solo clarinet, chamber music and jazz music, until her encounter with improvised music and the study of Afro-American culture. As a leader, her debut album was “Shardana” (released in 2017), strongly linked to the traditions and legends of Sardinia. She is the creator and organizer of various festivals in her homeland, last year she debuted with the “Indindara” project with the Tenores of Orosei.

Mats Gustafsson he is one of the most important players on the contemporary music scene, not only that linked to free jazz but also that of the latest trends in electronic research and synthesis between rock and improvisation. Specialist of the entire saxophone family (from the beloved baritone to the tenor, from the bass to the rare slide saxophone), the Swedish musician has developed a very original style, based mainly on timbral and rhythmic research and always characterized by an out of the ordinary emission power , which has made him one of the most recognizable and influential instrumental voices of recent years.
