In Civitavecchia, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May, the course organized by HSA which will train diving instructors for disabled people

CIVITAVECCHIA- This weekend, On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May, HSA’s Zero Barriere Diving returns to Civitavecchia (Rome): two days are planned dedicated to the training of Instructors and Guides who will have the opportunity to learn how to teach diving to disabled people. The training course for instructors is held by HSA – Handicapped Scuba Association International, a pioneering diving teaching agency and leader for over 40 years in teaching diving to people with different disabilities.

The Civitavecchia event is organized by HSA Italia and Blue Shark Divingand is structured in two days dedicated to training, both theoretical and practical: 15 new HSA professionals will be trained to teach diving to people with disabilities in the Lazio region. The instructor candidates have already been involved in the training for a few weeks via the HSA Online Training platform which allows you to obtain the basic training necessary to participate in the Civitavecchia training days.

Saturday 11 May the appointment is at 8.45 am at the Stadio del Nuoto-Pala Enel “Marco Galli” swimming pool in Civitavecchia. The morning is dedicated to training activities course for Diving Instructors. In the afternoon, until 6.00 pm, theoretical lessons are scheduled in the classroom at the Blue Shark DivingMercure Civitavecchia Sunbay Park Hotel.

The Instructor course is held by Stefano Torti, underwater training professional and expert HSA Course Director, with experience of preparing over a thousand instructors for disabled people, who comments: «I always feel great enthusiasm when I dedicate myself to the specialization of new Diving Instructors for disabled people. As often happens, on our courses we have very experienced diving instructors and guides who have been practicing for many years and who greatly appreciate the contents of the HSA course as it gives them a new vision of teaching techniques and enriches their professional background with information that will be useful and also applicable when they teach diving to non-disabled people.”

Together with Stefano Torti, the teaching staff is made up of expert HSA instructors from all over Lazio: Armando Coratti, Massimiliano Tesei and Lionello Sclavo.

On Sunday 12 May the training activity moves to the sea at Blue Shark DivingHSA diving center managed by the Instructor Andrea Pierfederici, inside the Mercure Civitavecchia Sunbay Park Hotel, a structure that stands out for its accessibility, with swimming pools and private dock for boarding divers on nautical vehicles.

Saturday and Sunday an event within the event with training is also planned Of Instructors Mermaid (fitness swimming wearing a mermaid tail) organized by the specialized school Seaworld Cagliari. Trainers Gabriella Pira and Marco Barbarossa will train eight new instructors of this fascinating discipline which can be passed on to children and adults. Finally, it cannot be missed the HSA Zero Barrier Diving experience, the inclusive moment open to all where people with disabilities and not only, under the guidance of the new instructors, will also try to wear a mermaid tail and twirl in the water just like mermaids.

Comment Andrea Pierfederici, HSA Instructor e owner of diving center Blue Shark: «Our structure is open to everyone, it is always a pleasure to organize HSA training events which continue to add new highly specialized technicians capable of involving people with different disabilities in underwater activities. This edition promises to be a huge success. 15 Instructor candidates are a record number in an era in which on average courses for diving professionals at any level have a maximum of 3 or 4 participants per course. This time too we managed to involve and raise awareness among many people. And this can only make us happy: from next week there will be other HSA professionals capable of giving new emotions to people with disabilities.”

In each training course, participants have the opportunity to get to know and learn the high-quality teaching system created by HSA, also available on a digital platform HSA Online Training, including the innovative and unique method of multi-level certification which has paved the way for safe diving by divers with disabilities. The Instructor and Guide training courses, which have been held since 1981 in different locations in Italy and in fifty countries around the world, continue successfully, encouraging the expansion of the HSA recreational diving program.
