In an exciting leap into the future of airport operations, Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport SpA (Trieste Airport) together with ADB SAFEGATE has announced the launch of an innovative two-year experimental project.

A partnership that aims to revolutionize “airside” operations (aircraft apron) through the perfect integration of airport resources in the cloud via wireless connectivity.

The collaboration arises from the recent acquisition and implementation by Trieste Airport of three advanced docking systems. The airport will benefit from the benefits of cutting-edge wireless technology, leveraging ADB SAFEGATE cloud’s AIPRON Manager. These technological advances pave the way for a multidimensional assessment aimed at improving operational efficiency, digitalization and automation.

Marco Consalvo, CEO of Trieste Airport, shared his enthusiasm for the launch of the project, stating: “This important step is testament to our relentless pursuit of digital transformation and airport operational excellence. By adopting this innovative technology, we aim to not only optimize our management of aviation operations, but also collaborate with global partners to set new benchmarks in apron digitalization.”

Vincenzo Zangrilli, Country Manager Italy of ADB SAFEGATE, underlines the importance of this partnership. “Working alongside Trieste Airport, a key player in the region, marks a significant achievement. This underlines Trieste’s proactive position towards innovation in airport management. This collaboration is destined to become a first step for further innovative partnerships, promoting unprecedented standards of operational efficiency.”

This announces the start of a series of collaborations focused on technological progress fundamental for the future of airport operations management. Sustainability, energy efficiency, predictive maintenance, safety and improvement of turnaround times are the cornerstones of a partnership that is ready to redefine the landscape of airport operations.
