Everything is ready in Sassari for the Sardinian Cavalcade. To allow the event, concerts and the positioning of the market areas to take place, some changes to the road system are planned. During the parade of the Sardinian Cavalcade (presumably from 7am to 2pm on Sunday 12 May) it will not be possible to access and exit the underground car parks of the Garibaldi hemicycle and Piazza Fiume.
From 8am on Saturday 11 May and until midnight on Sunday, transit and stop bans will be in place in piazza d’Armi, via Enrico Costa (from via Mazzini to via G. Asproni), via Cavour (from via Asproni to via Mazzini) , via Asproni, in the parking area between Piazza d’Armi and Corso Cossiga; via Asproni, parking area (no stopping only), Corso Berlinguer, between Piazza d’Armi and Corso Cossiga, Corso Berlinguer, parking area, Via Manno, between Via Enrico Costa and Corso Cossiga, via Mazzini, between Corso Cossiga and Via Enrico Costa, via Monsignor Masia and viale Mancini, between viale Italia and corso Berlinguer (stops only prohibited. Furthermore, from 4pm on Saturday 11th May to 12pm on Sunday 12th, in the presence of many people, corso Cossiga may be closed to traffic (from via Asproni); Corso Berlinguer left lane; Viale Mancini stretch from Viale Italia to Corso Berlinguer, with the consequent inversion of the direction of travel in the stretch of Viale Italia between Corso Margherita di Savoia and Viale Mancini and the stretch of Corso Margherita di Savoia between Viale Italia and the entrance to the underground car park of the Garibaldi hemicycle, to allow access to it. Starting from 6am on Sunday 12 May it is absolutely forbidden to park along the entire route of the Cavalcade.
From midnight on Sunday 12 May and until the end of the parade, transit and stopping of any type of vehicle, excluding service vehicles, will be prohibited along the route of the Sardinian Cavalcade: Corso Cossiga; Corso Regina Margherita di Savoia (Garibaldi hemicycle section); via Brigata Sassari (the stretch between Corso Margherita di Savoia and via Cagliari); via Cagliari (stretch between via Cavour and piazza Castello); Bargone and Crispo porticoes; square of Italy; via Roma (the stretch between Piazza d’Italia and via Asproni); via Asproni (stretch between via Roma and via IV Novembre); viale Italia (section between the Garibaldi hemicycle and viale Mancini); viale Mancini (the stretch between viale Italia and corso Berlinguer). Traffic ban also in via Deffenu (the stretch between via Civitavecchia and via IV Novembre), viale Dante (the stretch between via Alghero and via Asproni), via Zanfarino (the stretch between via Alghero and via Asproni), via GA Sanna, via Mazzini (the stretch between via Costa and viale Umberto), via Bellieni, via Spano, via Cavour (the stretch between via Manno and via Cagliari), piazza Castello (from the intersection with Largo Cavallotti), via Brigata Sassari (traffic will be allowed local up to via Turritana) and via dei Mille (between via Muroni and viale Mancini). The stopping ban is also foreseen in Corso Margherita di Savoia (from number 13 to Largo Porta Nuova), Viale Dante, (from Via Galilei to Via Asproni) and Viale Umberto I from number 40 (5 parking spaces). From the same time and until the end of the event and the passage of the horses, parking and stopping will be prohibited in via Rockefeller (from the exit of the racecourse via Gioscari), via Rizzeddu, piazza Salvator Ruiu, via Pasquale Paoli, viale Mancini, viale Italia up at the Garibaldi hemicycle. For the return via Asproni, via Deffenu, piazza Salvator Ruiu, via Rizzeddu, via Rockefeller/via Gioscari (hippodrome entrance) and via Parigi (the stretch between via Bovet and via Vienna) to allow the parking of vehicles transporting the horses at the racecourse. During the passage of the horses the affected streets will be temporarily closed to traffic.
For the big one event–concert, from 8am on Saturday 11 May to midnight on Sunday 12 May and in any case until the end of the event, a ban on transit and stops will be established in Piazza d’Italia, in the Bargone and Crispo porticoes, in via Moleschott, in via Spano and in via Roma. Same prohibition in Piazza Castello, loading and unloading area, in the space indicated by the signs.
From Sunday 12 May, from 6am, parking and stopping are prohibited in the central area of Piazzale Segni which will be reserved for parking the buses of folklore groups. The same vehicles are allowed to transit and stop in the stretch of Via Asproni and Corso Cossiga closed to traffic; same prohibitions in the side street of via Predda Niedda, in front of the cemetery and in via Madonna della Mercede, which will be reserved for parking tourist buses.
