Twenty-two people under investigation, 2 arrests, 4,700 tablets and 120 vials of doping substances seized.

These are the numbers of the dei operation Carabinieri of the Nas of Sassari launched in various gyms in the city as part of a vast investigation into alleged trafficking of anabolics.

The people under investigation are accused of complicity in the illicit trade and administration of anabolic substances and narcotic drugs, intended for body building athletes and gym goers.

The two people arrested, the personal trainer Fabrizio Piroddu, 45 years old, and Mirko Pinna, 44 years old, both from Sassari, were caught in the act of a crime by the police for possession of marijuana. The investigations, started by the Nas investigators of Sassari in December 2023, began following the interception of some packages containing drugs and anabolic substances from abroad, intended for the main suspects, to then be illicitly sold to gym goers and practitioners bodybuilding, in some cases participating in competitive and amateur competitions.

The turnover quantified so far is around 80,000 euros. Overall, during yesterday’s operation with the search of two gyms in the Predda Niedda industrial area, in Sassari, (Ludus and Spartan Fitness), 4,700 tablets and 120 vials of doping substances were seized.
