This was announced by Paola Garofalo of Airc Nissena. The appointment is scheduled at Piazza Falcone-Borsellino. It is a moment of fundraising and raising awareness: the research is in our hands
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, the Airc Research Azalea returns to Caltanissetta. Next Sunday, in fact, an initiative will be held in Piazza Falcone-Borsellino and Paola Garofalo (of the Nissena Airc) will make this known.
A moment of solidarity, information and awareness. Every year, throughout the national territory, twenty thousand volunteers take to the streets for the Research Azalea organized by Airc. For forty years there has been a strong and constant commitment to supporting research on tumors affecting women and “to remember that the future of research is in our hands”.
The Azalea of Research
The Research Azalea, now the emblem of Mother’s Day, is an ally of research into tumors affecting women. “With a total collection of around 300 million euros, the Airc Foundation’s Azalea has contributed over four decades to improving the quality of life and survival of women, through increasingly earlier diagnoses, less invasive surgical approaches and more precise and targeted, more effective and better tolerated”, say the organizers.
“Today 2 out of 3 women in Italy are alive 5 years after a cancer diagnosis – concludes the statement -. This year Azalea celebrates her fortieth birthday, reminding us that the future of research is in our hands. Around twenty thousand volunteers, coordinated by the seventeen regional offices, return to over 3,500 squares to distribute over 600 thousand azalea seedlings”.
