Rimini, Ecomondo returns from 5 to 8 November

Sustainability and ecological transition are confirmed as strategic areas for the competitiveness of Italian companies on foreign markets. Companies that look to the future and will be protagonists Ecomondo 2024 (Rimini Fair, from 5 to 8 November), the exhibition organized by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) which reaches its 27th edition this year. In 2023, Italian exports exceeded 660 billion euros, driven by the sustainability segment, of which a further increase of 10% is expected this year and 14.1% on average over the next two years, driven by ever greater extent of transition processes [1].

In this scenario, after last year’s record-breaking edition, once again in 2024 Ecomondo presents itself with numbers and projects that reconfirm it as an international reference event in Europe and the Mediterranean basin for technologies, services and industrial solutions in the sectors of the green and circular economy.

Research and innovation hub, Ecomondo will be a space for sharing and co-planning on the policies of the European Green Deal, iwhere experts, decision makers, entrepreneurs and sector professionals will discuss the challenges and opportunities related to environmental policy and the transition towards a circular economy.

Aiming more and more at internationalization, they are expected in the new edition delegations from 120 countries, 60 international sector associations and collaborations have been activated with over 100 foreign specialized magazines, to increasingly be a meeting place between the best practices of “Made in Europe” and the international demand for solutions for the green transition.

The event will also be a place for dialogue and discussion on the challenges of sustainability and “green” socioeconomic development of the African continent, at the center of the Italian Government’s Mattei Plan.

The themes

The themes that will guide Ecomondo 2024, around which the exhibition area and the rich program of events and conferences will develop, are: Big data, artificial intelligence and predictive systems for the ecological transition and management of the effects of climate change; New space economy for environmental surveillance and earth observation; Agriculture 4.0 to maximize yield and protect crops; Urban mining for the recovery of precious and critical materials from WEEE.

These integrate and enrich the six key thematic macro-areas of the new edition: Waste as Resource, Water Cycle & Blue Economy, Circular & Regenerative Bio-economy, Bio-Energy & Agroecology, Sites & Soil Restoration, Environmental Monitoring & Control.

The exhibition layout is renewed and expanded. Thanks to the construction of two new temporary pavilions, an exhibition area of ​​137 thousand square meters will be reached. Five exhibition districts dedicated to projects aimed at vertical industries, including the Textile District, which nominates Ecomondo as the capital of ethical fashion; the Paper District, a meeting place for all the players in the paper supply chain; the Blue Economy area to minimize negative impacts on the marine ecosystem and promote its resilience and regeneration. Added to these is the Innovation District, where 30 start-ups are expected in the Start-Up & Scale-Up area, while the Green Jobs & Skills project will create a space for dialogue between job supply and demand in the fields of sustainability, opportunities training and orientation. A world, that of Gen Z, to which Ecomondo renews great attention also with the second edition of the Lorenzo Cagnoni Award, which will be awarded to the three most innovative start-ups.

Ecomondo also qualifies for a program of conferences, seminars and high-profile events, coordinated by the 80 members of the Scientific Technical Committee, to explore the main innovations at a technological, regulatory and market level in the main sectors of the green economy.

The event will host again this year the States General of the Green Economyorganized by the Sustainable Development Foundation, promoted by the National Green Economy Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
