On the nature restoration we must not fuel the conflict between farmer and nature. It is a law that would end up decreasing agricultural production and increasing bureaucracy for businesses, without giving the right role to the farmer who is in reality the first and true guardian of the environment. This is what he comments Coldiretti since in recent days the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, shared a letter in response to MEPs asking to move forward with the proposal for a Nature Restoration Law. A legislation which – on paper – should establish new constraints for the protection and conservation of biodiversity in Europe.
“If on the one hand the positions of the ministers seem likely to lead to a postponement of the vote on the provisional trilogue agreement, approved not without difficulty and divisions also by the European Parliament, on the other hand the Commission seems not to want to realize the impact of a wrong rule and which, in addition to penalizing farmers without protecting their income, would not bring the desired environmental effects – they explain Cristina Brizzolaripresident of Coldiretti Piemonte, e Bruno Rivarossa, confederal delegate -.
