Guastalla It appears to have been caused by an incorrect operation, which caused an involuntary mixture of substances during a transfer into the storage area of ​​the Le Piscine sports centre, the blue toxic cloud which triggered a real emergency in Guastalla. According to initial estimates, around a hundred people, including many students from the nearby Russell and Carrara schools (who were immediately evacuated) were poisoned by the fumes.

Seven of these, but the final assessment has not yet been made, were hospitalized, around thirty fainted and many others were rescued on site by civil protection personnel following illnesses.

The alarm went off around 7.30 am, when a supplier took the materials to the warehouse in the Le Piscine center with a truck. It was during the unloading operations that two substances, one of which should be chlorine, came into contact, triggering the reaction and the subsequent toxic cloud.

Precisely in those moments the students (around two thousand are enrolled at Russell and Carrara) were arriving at school and began to inhale the substances. At 8.40, when the situation became untenable, the two schools were evacuated.

In the meantime, twenty ambulances, medical vehicles, three fire brigade teams, Civil Protection vehicles and men, as well as the police (carabinieri and traffic police in particular) have arrived to help all those who have felt ill.
