The new political crisis falls within the Gallaratese majorityafter the clash between former mayor Nicola Mucci (Forza Italia) and mayor Cassani.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday Cassani sent strong signals, he forced his handirritated by a new request from Forza Italia on the topic of urban planning and beyond.

There FI’s secretariat responded with a more than conversational notewhich essentially apologizes: “The provincial secretariat of Forza Italia, considering the importance of continuing to administer the city of Gallarate, in compliance with the electoral program signed in 2021, believes it is essential to remain in the majority and judged some recent statements, not shared, by its citizen delegate Nicola Mucci to be inappropriate”.

Cassani had placed theeither-or asking that Micci leave, Forza Italia (one might say obviously) could not come to this point but nevertheless convinced Mucci to make an act of repentance: according to the note the former mayor “has taken note of this, guaranteeing the leaders of his party that from now on he will maintain a collaborative attitude towards the administration and other political secretaries, in the exclusive and supreme public interest”.

In short: Forza Italia “wants to continue”, in Gallarate as in the province, in the Region, in Rome. And he wants to continue in Gallarate with the deputy mayor Rocco Longobardi and the councilors Belinda Simeoni and Cosimo Ceraldi, who even in the last hours would have reassured the rest of the majority on the collaborative attitude, even before the Provincial’s note.

The note with which Mayor Cassani closes the story is measured in tone but betrays the satisfaction with the provincial recall to the Gallaratese Forza Italia: “I take note of the reassurances received from the Provincial Secretariat of Forza Italia, through the Provincial Coordinator Simone Longhini and the Lombard Vice-Coordinator Giuseppe Taldone: two valid colleagues with whom we have always been in harmony at the provincial level.
I thank them for having intervened in this matter and with their guarantee I’m sure that things will change in Gallarate and that, as already happens at provincial level, also at local level we can work in unison and without unnecessary tension neither in the council nor among the local political coordinators”.

The last phase of conflict had opened on the topic of city development and on the PGT, the urban planning tool launched in 2011. Mucci had evoked the need to take it back into hand, also to ensure greater revenue for the municipal body. From this solicitation we then moved on to open conflict.
