An eclectic and dynamic festival, with a profound international vocation but at the same time attentive to the best Italian music: the complete line up of Ferrara Sotto le Stelle 2024 has been announced, the historic Emilian event which returns for its twenty-eighth edition.
Blonde Redhead, Dry Cleaning, The Murder Capital, Fantastic Negrito, Einstürzende Neubauten, PFM sings De André Anniversary, Dente, Daniela Pes, Any Other, New Candys, Birthh, Ibisco, Leatherette and FusaiFusa are the protagonists of the new edition of the festival, which confirms its enterprising and refined spirit and the desire to look at the most varied sound worlds, from rock to songwriting, through blues, post punk and electronics.
A curious reality capable of evolving and extending over time and space: if the heart of the festival is indeed confirmed from 3 to 8 June in the courtyard of the Estense Castle in Ferrarathe exhibition is then enriched with two appointments, on 8 and 9 July, in the splendid Delizia Estense of Benvignante in Argenta (FE) and ends with the now usual appointment in collaboration with Internazionale in Ferrara on October 3 at the Teatro Comunale citizen.
Ferrara Sotto le Stelle therefore maintains its roots firmly in the place where everything was born, within the walls of the Este castle in the city centre, but at the same time is capable of looking beyond, broadening its geographical and temporal horizons, from a of constant valorisation of the territory who lives and says collaboration with the realities by which it is surrounded.
Ferrara Sotto le Stelle confirms itself as one of the longest-running and quality events in Italy, capable of never losing curiosity and the desire to look to the future. A festival that this year too gives shape to a heterogeneous and surprising line up, which aims at gender balance and environmental sustainability: a journey through multiple sounds that gathers around itself, every year, an increasingly larger and more composite audience.
THE PROGRAM
The great concerts return to the historic location of the festival, the Courtyard of the Estense Castle in Ferrara. It begins Monday 3 June with the refined New York indie rock trio Blonde Redhead which presents the recent recording success Sit Down For Dinner. Opening, the solo show by one of the most original and inspired Italian artists around, Any Otherfresh from the release of the new album stillness, stop: you have a right to remember. Tuesday 4 June it’s the turn of the only Italian date of Dry Cleaning, a South London quartet that in just a few years has gained international attention with its intriguing and original mix of post punk and spoken word. To open their live, the dark and melodic rock of New Candys. Wednesday 5 June space for the multifaceted and esoteric talent of Daniela Peswhich with the simultaneously archaic, contemporary and futuristic sound of the debut album Spira won the Targa Tenco and enchanted audiences and critics. The young and brilliant Tuscan singer-songwriter based in New York anticipates her Birthh. Friday 7 June space for the ironic and disillusioned sweetness of the songwriting of Toothto celebrate together the fifteenth anniversary of Love is not beautiful. Before him, the powerful and direct, uncompromising sound of Hibiscus. Saturday 8 June ends with the only summer live show in Italy by the Irish The Murder Capitalamong the best groups of the world post punk scene, capable of blending adrenaline and introspection in the best possible way, as demonstrated by their latest album Gigi’s Recovery and the subsequent single Hearth In The Hole. Opening, the overwhelming and very personal mix of post punk, noise and twisted pop Leatherette.
In July we move instead to Estense delight from Benvignante to Silver (FE), new splendid location of the festival, for two live performances immersed in the greenery of the park. Monday 8 July he arrives Fantastic Negritoone of the most overwhelming, talented and beloved bluesmen around, singer-songwriter and guitarist who won three Grammy Awards: his concert will be opened by that of FusaiFusaa musical ensemble that moves at the crossroads between Middle Eastern sounds and Afro-beat, Maghrebi rhythms and electronics, with their debut album Lamana. Tuesday 9 July instead the history of Italian music is on stage with the famous prog band PFM – Premiata Forneria Marconi in PFM sings De André Anniversarya live concert celebrating forty-five years since the tour “Fabrizio De André and PFM in concert”renewing the embrace between rock and poetry of the great Genoese singer-songwriter.
Finally, the usual autumn preview event of the new edition of the “Internazionale a Ferrara” journalism festival, Thursday 3 October to the Municipal Theatrewith the German band that, in over 40 years of career, has been able to shift the parameters of the mainstream: the Einstürzende Neubautenwho present the new album live, as always unpredictable, experimental and unconventional, Rampen – apm: alien pop music.
