Numerous household items of dubious origin seized in Andria

As part of economic control activities carried out across the entire provincial territory, the Financiers of the Provincial Command of Barletta, under the orders of Colonel Pierluca Cassano, in separate interventions carried out in recent days, have subjected to seizure over 138,000 products without safety requirements and potentially harmful to consumer health.

In particular, the soldiers of the Trani Company, following two accesses to commercial establishments carrying out the retail trade of adult packaging and to non-specialised emporiums and shops selling non-food products respectively, found the presence on the shelves of of the two shops selling accessories for shoes, insoles and disposable plastic tableware, all without the safety indications required by the Consumer Code, for a total of 42 thousand pieces.

The Fiamme Gialle of Andria, under the orders of Captain Cosimo Carafa, in an intervention at a similar commercial activity, found and seized 90 thousand articles of various kinds including home accessories, hardware items, cleaning and care products person and for pets; Furthermore, at the weekly market, over 4 thousand unsafe fashion accessories were seized from a street vendor, as they were made with flammable materials or, in any case, of undoubted origin.

Lastly, the financiers of the Tenenza of Margherita di Savoia seized over 2 thousand personal care products.

The products seized from the various commercial activities were found not to comply with the standards required by European and national legislation, as they lacked any information essential for the consumer, i.e. the presence of any harmful substances, precautions for use, the composition of the constituent materials and their description in Italian; in fact, only the affixing of such words on the packaging of the goods for sale guarantees the final buyer awareness of the quality of the product and, above all, its use in complete safety.

Those responsible for commercial activities have been reported to the competent Chamber of Commerce. Further investigations are underway by the Financiers to identify any tax and customs violations. Countering the spread of products that do not comply with safety standards means contributing to ensuring effective consumer protection and a competitive market where honest economic operators can benefit from fair conditions of competition.
