PERUGIA – It should have been a lunch break like any other. Maybe where you can try something new compared to the usual spaghetti or the usual slice of pizza. Something ethnic and exotic, for a change. But for one woman, the trip to the Chinese restaurant was unfortunately only a stop on the way to the hospital.

Yesterday, in fact, the ambulance did not go unnoticed when, in front of a place in Via Settevalli, around one o’clock it picked up a lady with obvious breathing difficulties. Many stopped to watch the rescue operations, while the most daring hypotheses went wild. With her fear exploding inside the restaurant where, after eating the first bites of her order, the woman began to feel ill. She would have turned purple, according to the stories of those who were nearby, as if she were hungry for air: the victim of a respiratory crisis. Enough therefore to alert 118, with medical workers immediately arriving from the nearby Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital. Excited moments with the fear that the meal ingested could have somehow harmed her: but in reality the quality of the food was absolutely not in question, everything was good and prepared with the usual attention.
It was only the “spicy” of the food she tried that caused the woman’s bad reaction. Chili pepper or some other particularly pungent spice present in some Chinese cuisine recipes, which caused the woman, probably not used to it, to have a crisis, with the sensation of not even being able to breathe. Rescue was therefore immediate, but fortunately without serious consequences for the client. In fact, after initial treatment on site and a very quick arrival at the emergency room, the woman was soon discharged. A spicy misadventure so at most next time we will limit ourselves to ordering Cantonese rice and spring rolls.
