Innovation Roadshow Taranto – Taranto Good evening

Taranto confirms once again that it is a city that innovates, experiments and activates international research and technology programs, which involve public and private excellence and protect human health and the city’s environment, mitigating the effects of climate change. Taranto then becomes a protagonist again with “CTE CALLIOPE”, the project financed by Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and by the Development and Cohesion Fund.

The maxi event ofInnovation Roadshow was held in Taranto at the Jonico Department of the University of Bari. A whole series of sessions dedicated to CALLIOPE, the House of Innovation for One Health, followed one another without pause. All this to network the Ionian territory with the other Houses of Emerging Technologies and present the innovative startups focused in this area to a pool of institutional investors, seizing development and collaboration opportunities.

“CALLIOPE is a strategic asset for the city and is in full harmony with the Taranto Ecosystem strategic plan” This is what the great promoter, the mayor of Taranto, says about it Rinaldo Melucciwhich continues: “Thanks to the synergies developed with our public and private partners, we have put in place the technological and scientific conditions to accelerate the process of change that is affecting our city in terms of social and environmental sustainability. The model adopted was born from the positive experience of international collaboration of the Horizon EU projects, which saw us engaged on the topic of health and the environment together with other international partners and universities, including Oxford. We are certain that in these areas CALLIOPE will be able to become a reference for the international scientific community but above all a driver of positive change for our citizens and for local businesses”.

There House of Emerging Technologies of Taranto is made up of over thirty partners led by the Municipality of Taranto, including public bodies, research centers, universities, competence centers, innovative startups and large companies. In addition to the creation of the CTE platform, CALLIOPE has developed three physical structures for research, training and technology transfer which will soon be available to citizens, local businesses and the scientific community.

The program is rich with international testimonials and topics: among others Gabriella Greison, physicist, writer and theater performer, Roberta Serroni of MIMIT, the director of the Jonico department Paolo PardolesiMaria Càsola, Paola Tagariello and Annalisa Turi of the Jonico Uniba Department, the director of the Puglia Region Fabio Mastropasqua, Rodolfo SardoneScientific Manager of the CALLIOPE project, the managers of the Municipality of Taranto Simeone and Murianni and then Jonian Dolphin Conservation and Carmelo Fanizzaeconomic and institutional actors, investors in start-ups, representatives of Invitalia, universities, the Municipality, multinationals.

Officially inaugurated on J-CO Hubthe Community of the Jonico UNiBA Department which was created with the aim of fertilizing the ideas and projects of young undergraduates, encouraging the contamination of skills and encounters with local startups. Here, finally, ideas, creativity and projects in progress can find their ideal habitat.
