An incredible season for Bologna which will experience its epilogue in the last three acts, the first of which in Naples, a match eagerly awaited even by some illustrious former doubles such as Salvatore Bagni. The former rossoblù and azzurri midfielder, as often happens before the matches between the Neapolitans and Bologna, spoke about the match and the season of the two teams.

Bagni does not take into consideration the idea that Bologna might not take part in the next Champions League: «Three months ago I said he would go to the Champions League. The team is on the pitch with wonderful quality and intensity. And the enthusiasm of the people is an extra boost. I read that the Europa League was not celebrated: that’s right. This Bologna deserves the Champions League. People want to have fun and this team has combined ideas and games with results».
The former Bologna and Napoli midfielder then focuses on Thiago Motta’s management of the squad: «He has a roster of interchangeable players. He let those who deserved the most play, excluding Karlsson who had injury problems. If the kids are intelligent it works and in Bologna the group proved to be so. And Thiago is already a great coach: measured, he takes the team on his shoulders, reads the matches. He will coach clubs that consistently make the Champions League. In rossoblù he found the ideal environment».
Bagni’s suggestion to Thiago Motta
As many are doing at the moment, Salvatore Bagni suggests Thiago still remain on the Bologna bench to compete for the Champions League: «Playing the Champions League with the team you brought there is a double satisfaction: I hope for the Bolognese that he is thinking of staying».
Towards Naples-Bologna
Bagni is not only a commentator, but is also a double ex of the next match between Napoli and Bologna, scheduled for Saturday evening at the Maradona. The former Italian champion with Maradona’s Azzurri gives his opinion on the Campania team’s season: «He lost DS and coach at the same time after winning the Scudetto. There is a huge disappointment in the city: no one was crazy enough to think of an encore, but after a triumph awaited for 33 years we expected at least the enthusiasm and sweat for the shirt. The team’s attitude did not satisfy people».
In view of the match, Bagni also tries to give an interpretation of what could happen on the pitch: «Napoli keeps the ball a lot, but their shots on goal can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Even in Udinese they scored with a great technical gesture, not with a collective action. Bologna, on the other hand, is a team that verticalizes a lot. In the last few races, perhaps, he felt Ferguson’s absence and Zirkzee wasn’t very brilliant. In Naples there may be the temptation of a draw, but after a championship like this you cannot think of Bologna being out of the Champions League».
On Sartori
Finally, the former rossoblù midfielder also focuses on the other great architect of this Bologna, Giovanni Sartori: «He is not a guy who stands out or rather he does so with his good choices: in Bologna he built an extraordinary team. I knew some players, like Lucumí, Calafiori or Beukema. But Motta gave him wonderful confidence in moving with the ball. Watching this Bologna is a pleasure».
