Be kind to the planet

He needs our care

And our attention

It’s the only home we have

Postponed due to bad weather, Earth Day has finally arrived for the children of Pascoli and the elderly of Carpine!! All the classes of the Pascoli Primary School have worked on it, starting from the beginning of the year, with meetings and workshops: the young students, who are now at home in the nearby Cra Il Carpine, have freed their creativity by recycling paper to create new objects helped by the elderly guests. This is how colorful pom-poms and bookmarks with phrases written together, by children and the elderly, came to life to propose concrete actions to protect the Earth. They are inspired by the rule of the three R’s, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: the three key words of their work.

The big day was Wednesday 8 May when, escorted by the Local Police, waving their pom-poms and to the rhythm of the maracas, the children of Pascoli and the elderly of Carpine walked along Via Berengario to arrive in Piazza Martiri and say everyone how important it is to take care of our planet. Not even too intimidated, they took the floor to express their considerations and then left their fingerprints on the large banner placed in the center of the circle which reads: be kind to the planet, it needs our care and attention. It’s the only home we have

“For us children of the G. Pascoli school today was the conclusion of a project lived together with the elderly and all the people who accompanied us on this journey… we worked hard and had a lot of fun together with the grandparents to prepare this beautiful day: our maracas with cardboard rolls, colored newspapers and bookmarks to donate, with the certainty that those who received them will work with us to safeguard the earth”. Even the Carpine grandparents did the same, because we walk together towards a better future.

So much emotion in the heart and big smiles for the grand finale when the children involved the elderly in singing and dancing.

The relationship between generations so distant is good for the souls of adults and children: Piazza Martiri was beautiful!!
