Fails in part the new public lighting in the city and claims the choices made in terms of tourism, in particular for the docking of cruise ships at the maritime station, reiterating the need to have an increasingly “culture of hospitality”. The president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Lucatalks about Salerno and does so, yesterday, on the sidelines of the activation of a latest generation CT scan at the Fucito hospital in Mercato San Severino, which is part of the San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d’Aragona hospital-university company in Salerno.

With the next opening of theSalerno-Amalfi Coast airport, “a beautiful season is opening up for the whole of Italy, for the region, for Salerno”, claims the governor, noting that “we have begun to see, in truth for some time now, processions of tourists with flags raised.” A fact that “must increasingly commit the city to having a culture of hospitality, to having a pleasant and clean environment”. For De Luca we need to “improve public lighting”. And he explains: «I saw that work is being done to save energy. But, some streets look like cemeteries, starting from the seafront. Therefore, the lighting must be doubled in some places. In some places, such as the judicial citadel and via Settimio Mobilio, it is fine. In other places, it’s bad. Therefore, I have already urged the Administration to reach an agreement with the company doubling the lighting because it’s not good.” De Luca, then, in recalling the area «next to the Grand Hotel where there is a car park which is half fenced off», underlines that that «is an area that was sold by the Municipality to build hotels. The destination of that area is hotels and that’s it.” “I take this opportunity to inform our fellow citizens – he clarifies – that if anyone tries to sell private apartments on paper he is a criminal, a scammer”.

The former mayor highlights that «we have a shortage of hotel facilities» in Salerno and that «we need it counter this push to create bed and breakfasts in all the centers of our cities. The historic centers are becoming deserted.” De Luca is convinced that tourism is “a great asset” and therefore claims the choices made in the capital: “Remember when we were building Piazza della Libertà and the Crescent and I said that we would have cruise ships that were more heights of the Crescent? Now, you see them, they are taller and it’s a beautiful sight.”

After the ribbon cutting of new CT scan at Fucito of Mercato San Severino, the President of the Region entrusts to a social post some technical explanations of the innovative instrumentation which allows, «also thanks to the help of artificial intelligence, to obtain high quality clinical images and thus improve the diagnosis especially for pathologies oncological, vascular, pneumological and urological”. «The new technology – adds De Luca – allows the radiation dose to the patient to be reduced to the lowest possible level, up to 80%, while maintaining the same level of effectiveness in the examination. It is truly an important leap forward in improving the quality of care of this hospital which is confirmed excellence in the departments of molecular pathology and medical genomics for the early diagnosis of hereditary cancer diseases as well as for digestive endoscopy and the treatment of pancreatic diseases”.

For the general director of Aou Ruggi, Vincenzo D’Amato, «Fucito is growing a lot. In terms of equipment we have innovated a lot throughout the company, even in the peripheral areas. And Fucito Radiology has had a new CT scan and other equipment.” Furthermore, “a few days ago, we reactivated the medical genomics laboratory from Da Procida to Fucito, whose experience we absolutely did not want to lose” and “we have an allergology department that has visibility that goes beyond the borders of the Irno Valley”. Then, «there is Gastroenterology which works great and is a regional reference center».
