POTENZA – “We fought until the end (and in the company of a few others) so that the progressive camp could credibly challenge the right for the government of the city. First by offering Giuseppe Biscaglia to the coalition table, considering him, among our councilors, the one who could gather the greatest consensus among the participants at the table. Then inviting others to go beyond the flag candidacies and try to converge on a candidacy that could be as inclusive as possible. The proposal of a woman, an authoritative and prestigious professional, like Angela Pignatari, was returned to the sender and treated like any flag candidacy without all the political forces, the only ones she had asked to find unanimous consensus, they expressed themselves. Among these, the PD which, by replicating the role played until shortly before the regional elections and hiding behind the refusal of the “civic” Telesca to withdraw, bears upon itself the responsibility for the breakdown of the broad coalition and the consequences that may derive from it on the electoral level. We do not resign ourselves to supporting this drift of the parties (now completely Balkanized, whose very electoral position appears fragmented and unrecognizable) and we choose to give continuity and coherence to the five-year commitment, in the city and in the City Council, always carried out and solely at the service of citizens. For these reasons we have decided to nominate Francesco Giuzio as a candidate for Mayor of Potenza and to offer his candidacy to the sharing of those who have fought like us, even in recent months, against lobbies and consolidated interests that poison democracy, discredit politics and sow disaffection and abstentionism. Francesco Giuzio is, at the same time, the freshest and most solid resource that is offered to the judgment of the city because he is the only one, among those in the field, who has trained in constant, competent and combative work in opposition to the terrible right who has misgoverned Potenza in the five years we have behind us.”
