This morning the mayor’s order was implemented to seize two dogs owned by a homeless woman who was stationed together with a man, also homeless, near Piazza Italia and the municipal park. The service was carried out in collaboration with the local police units and with the Veterinary Service of the ASL of Lecce and the support of the operators of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police. The two subjects usually wander near the aforementioned square, accompanied by two large dogs who in the past have shown signs of aggression towards passers-by. The man and the woman were first identified and then taken to the police station for the ritual investigations which are still underway. The two animals, however, after being tranquilized and made safe, were transported and welcomed to an authorized shelter, awaiting veterinary health checks and a behavioral assessment that decrees their possible danger for an upcoming foster care with a family. .
