The words this morning pronounced by Marco Manfrinati’s father and reported by us (read here), deeply touched Marta Criscuolo, wife of Fabio Limido and mother of Lavinia Limido, the two victims of the tragedy that took place on Monday in via Menotti in Varese.
A husband who is no longer with us, killed by Manfrinati’s stab wounds and a daughter who «is a miracle worker, because the murderer struck two blows: one in the face to disfigure her and one in the carotid artery to kill her. She is a very strong woman who had courage.”
She found herself today, on “La vita in diretta”, listening to the words spoken by Marco’s father, Giulio Manfrinati and to which she did not hesitate even for a second to respond: «I’m not surprised. In 2020 Manfrinati – Marco – punched my husband twice. I called her mother telling her “maybe there is some problem in this family” and she said “but no, my son has a rigid character”, I specify that the mother is a psychiatrist. Are you asking me if I’m surprised by the tall tales that man tells? No, they are part of the style in which Marco Manfrinati grew up».
And again: «A few years ago – the woman declared in front of the Rai cameras – they have a house in Trentino, under the condominium in which the apartment they owned was located, she saw some badly parked cars, she went and smashed all the car windows, he ran away, his mother hid him until the Carabinieri caught him and, I think, a criminal case was opened.”
«That’s not all – Marta Criscuolo continued verbatim on live television – once, at the exit of the Varese motorway, my daughter was present, a gentleman with an SUV next to his car, threw the butt of his cigarette on the ground. He got out and told him “come down for a bit, we are in Italy, not in Switzerland”, the license plate of the car was Switzerland, and he began to beat him with his fists. When my daughter ran away, he declared to my daughter that he went home and massacred her mother. So there were no signs in this family, right?».
The words of Manfrinati’s defender, this morning outside the Varese court (read here), were instead commented on by the criminologist Roberta Bruzzone, present in the studio: «The objective was to kill her. The version he gives, that is, that he was forced to hit his father-in-law to escape the attack after Limido had evidently intervened following the havoc he had committed on her daughter, seeing her now practically lifeless? It is clear that in such a context legitimate defense cannot be invoked.”
The mother, saddened but composed, then concluded by recalling the gesture made by Lavinia’s father and the promise he made to him: «My husband and I had made wonderful plans for our daughters, I swore to him when I saw him dead that I would continue to protect them and cultivate love in this family. My husband conquered heaven by defending my daughter with his life.”
