The G7 of Equal Opportunities in Matera from 4 to 6 October, the announcement by Minister Roccella

” The Italian presidency will bring together the G7 ministers responsible for equal opportunities from 4 to 6 October in Matera and the meeting, which I will have the honor of chairing, will represent the ideal platform for the exchange of good practices, the creation of innovative solutions and the promotion of partnerships aimed at achieving gender equality within the G7″. This was announced by the Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Roccella, during the “Women7 Summit” dedicated to equal opportunities underway in the Capitol.

“There are two topics (which will be addressed, ed.), apparently distant – explained Minister Roccella – but in reality strongly connected. On the one hand, male violence against women, in terms of prevention and support for victims. On the other, female empowerment, with a particular focus on the relationship with work, business and
parenting.”
For the minister, “violence and empowerment are actually closely linked and very current issues. Also for what is happening in the world” and underlining that “violence has a lot to do, in oppositional terms, also with the theme of empowerment and with the great, essential theme of freedom”.

“In discussing the policies to be undertaken, the causes and remedies – he pointed out – are intertwined: economic independence, for example, and more generally empowerment, as well as making women freer, allowing them to go out more easily from situations of violence, of not being subjected to blackmail and pressure, also have an effect that we could define
secondary, but which is important: that of inducing greater awareness in men too. It helps women to avoid suffering violence, but it also helps men to learn to respect women.”
Roccella then concluded that for the ministerial meeting in Matera, “the advocacy work of Women7 and of all civil society will be important, capable of giving voice to different realities and contributing to shaping the public debate” –
