The French Admiral’s Trophy was won in Viareggio

With the delivery of the French Admiral Silver Trophy and the Trophy of the General Command of the Port Authority Corps – Coast Guard to the Overall winner, the Impala 36 Clan of Andrea and Iacopo Poli (YCRMP) by the Commander General Admiral Inspector . Chief (Cp) Nicola Carlone, of the Northern Maritime Interregional Commander of the Navy Division Admiral Flavio Biaggi, of the Councilor of the Municipality of Viareggio Alessandro Meciani, of the President II of the Fiv Zone of Tuscany, Umbria and the Province of La Spezia, Andrea Leonardi and of the vice president CNV Admiral Inspector Chief (Cp) Marco Brusco, the XXVII Admiral Giuseppe Francese Challenge Trophy, an event reserved for Offshore Sailing (FIV Rating, Grand Cruise, ORC A and B), Vintage Sails and Classic CIM Yachts, was successfully concluded Aive.

Proof of how this Trophy is not just a beautiful regatta but a real one common thread of affection, friendship, respect and gratitude that binds the French Admiral to many personalities and to many members of the CNV, was demonstrated once again by the number of boats that took to the sea and, above all, by the numerous and important civil and military authorities who attended at the awards ceremony.

The traditional event was organized by delegation of the FIV by the Versilia Nautical Club with the patronage of the Tuscany Region, the Navy, the General Command of the Coast Guard Harbor Office Corps, the Province of Lucca, the Municipality of Viareggio and the Lucca Chamber of Commerce, the support of the Port Authority of Viareggio and the Codecasa Due Shipyard (Fulvio Codecasa was a great friend of the French Admiral).

Late on Saturday morning, around twenty crews set off from Viareggio but the weak wind which never exceeded 7 knots and the rough seas forced the Race Committee to significantly shorten the Altura route – which therefore contested a coastal of 34 mm – and finally that of the CIM boats – most penalized by the little wind – at the island of Tino after 17 mm.

The awards ceremony, which took place in the rooms of the Viareggio association, opened with the Mameli Hymn and the welcome greeting from CNV vice president Admiral Brusco who, after thanking the guests present, the racers and all those who contributed to the success of the demonstration, recalled the Admin. French and the birth of this Trophy.

In their subsequent interventions, the Commander General Carlone, the Division Admiral Biaggi, the Councilor Meciani and the President II Fiv Zone Leonardi, also recalled this peculiar figure of Admiral and reiterated the closeness and esteem towards the association Viareggio.

The CNV Sports Director Muzio Scacciati then rewarded and thanked the Regatta Committee, chaired by Stefano Giusti with Tiziano Menconi, Luigi Liberti, Antimo Brusciano and Ilaria Checchi, for the excellent work carried out.

During the final ceremony, the following were awarded the CNV Cups:

by the Commander of the Port Authority of Viareggio CF Silvia Brini the first three classified in the Single Class Vintage Sails: 1st Omphale by Nicola Bocci (CNMC) also winner of the National Presidency Cup of the Italian Naval League presented by the LNI Regional Delegate Admiral Piero Vatteroni and by the President of the LNI Viareggio Marco Serpi; 2nd Crivizza di Rolandi-Cattai (CNV); 3rd Penelope of SeVeMM La Spezia entrusted to First Lieutenant Michele Renna.

by the Commander of the CP of Marina di Carrara Cf Monica Selene Mazzarese the winner of the Classic Yachts CIM-Aive Crivizza (CNV) of Ariella Cattai and the President of AIVE Gigi Rolandi.

by the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Viareggio Regional Port Authority Alessandro Rosselli the first three Fiv Ratings: 1st the C&C37 Buccaniere by Muzio Scacciati (CNV) also awarded by President II Zona Leonardi with the FIV President’s Plaque; 2nd was the First 44.7 Sailavì 2 of Andrea Marsili (CVM), and 3rd Aquila of Adriano Mari (SVV).

from the Vicar of the Prefect of Lucca Cassone the first two Orc Gran Crociera: 1st Clan of the Poli house; 2nd was Gianluca Conti’s Dheler 39 Altrove, helmed by Ubaldo Sgherri (YCL).

from Councilor Meciani the Sun Fast 31 Ombra of Edoardo Mazzocco (CV Ravennate) winner of the ORC B Class.

by the Maritime Director of Tuscany and Commander of the Port of Livorno Rear Admiral CP Gaetano Angora the first three classified in the ORC A Class: 1st the XP 44 Orizzonte (CNV) of Paolo Bertazzoni (already winner in the Overall in 2018 and 2019) to which also went the Trophy donated by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Team Admiral Enrico Credendino, presented by Division Admiral Biaggi; 2nd was the Imx 40 Antares of the SVMM SE VE Livorno entrusted to Paolo Carnevali; 3rd was the Elan 400 Andromeda Domenico Mei (LNI).

from Admiral Brusco the winner Overall Clan (helmsman Iacopo Poli, crew Andrea Poli, Vittorio Santerini, Giorgio Sartoni, Gianluca Dati and Alberto Santerni) who also received the two prestigious Trophies.

The delivery by Commander General Carlone of the crest of the General Command of the Port Authority Corps – Coast Guard with the motto “Omnia vincit animus” to the Admiral. Brusco and the traditional vin d’honneur closed this edition, also valid as a stage of the Artiglio Trophy and which, once again, met with satisfaction from all the racers, guests and organizers.
