Benevento
(fs) Benevento will meet its first opponent in the national play-off phase no earlier than Sunday morning. Meanwhile, the second round of the so-called group stage will have been played on Saturday. There are six matches that will see Triestina-Giana, Atalanta-Legnago, Perugia-Rimini, Pescara-Juventus, Casertana-Cerignola and Taranto-Picerno face each other. Awaiting the winners in the first national round are the three teams that finished in third place, namely Benevento, Vicenza and Carrarese as well as the winner of the Italian Cup, Catania. These 4 will be seeded and therefore will not play each other. The fifth seed will be the best from the six matches on Saturday, keeping in mind that among these it is very likely there will be one of the fourth of the regular season, that is Casertana which finished with 65 points, Triestina (64) or Perugia (63 ). It is understood that the first of the three to pass the round will be seeded. If all three passed, Casertana would be the top seed, while the other two, Triestina and Perugia, would be potential opponents of the Giallorossi. The other possible opponents, which we remember will be the result of a draw, would however be equally strong: from Atalanta to Legnago, from Pescara to Juventus U23, from Taranto to Picerno. At this moment it is only a calculation of probabilities: we understand that it is not an easy reasoning, but Benevento certainly knows that it will not face Vicenza, Carrarese and Catania and one of the three quarters that goes through (in order Casertana, Triestina and Perugia). All the others have more or less the same chance of becoming Benevento’s first opponent in the play offs.
Here are the pairings of the second round of the playoffs which will take place on Saturday 11 May:
GROUP A: Triestina-Giana Erminio, Atalanta U23-Legnago Salus.
GROUP B: Perugia-Rimini, Pescara-Juventus NG.
GROUP C: Casertana-Audace Cerignola, Taranto-Picerno
