«Compensate the city of Acerra for the environmental damage suffered.” So says the mayor Tito d’Errico in a letter sent to the Ministry of the Environment which is asked to «proceed, without further delay, with any administrative or judicial action aimed at obtaining compensation for the environmental damage ascertained with a final sentence against the Pellini brothers» condemned for an environmental disaster but to whom millions of assets were returned due to defects in the seizure procedure.
An act that follows the indications received from the city council last April 10, when the majority councilors (five of the six minority representatives present in the chamber abstained) had given a mandate to the mayor to initiate every action useful to make the compensation effective.
«Tomorrow morning – explains the mayor – I will deliver this request directly to the Prefect of Naples during a working table convened by the Territorial Government Office itself on the topic of combating waste fires which will be held in Acerra. The municipal administration will continue to do its institutional duty to the fullest out of a sense of responsibility towards the city. Furthermore, as already indicated by the city council, we are also ready to appeal to the competent TAR in the event of prolonged inertia or non-compliant silence on the part of the Ministry”.
