The construction site of the Meucci gym has started in Carpi

Work is underway for the renovation of the gym of the Meucci institute in Carpi for a total amount of one million and 815 thousand euros, thanks to the tender from the Ministry of Education and Merit which assigned financing with Pnrr funds to project nominated by the Province.

The end of the works is scheduled for the end of 2024 and in any case in compliance with the timing set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The intervention, carried out by the Cires cooperative company of Castenaso di Bologna, involves the seismic improvement of the building by reinforcing the structural elements such as pillars, beams and stairwell and the redevelopment of the building, systems and finishes, as well as the extraordinary maintenance of the changing rooms, of the flooring of the playing fields and the renovation of the waterproofing in the points where there are infiltrations.

The intervention is part of mission four of the Pnrr on the plan for infrastructure for sport in schools regarding the strengthening of the offer of education services.

The “seismic improvement” works include the creation of new foundation curbs to connect the existing plinths, a casing of the internal pillars with high-performance self-compacting reinforced concrete, the bulking on the external side of the perimeter pillars with the replacement of the existing connections and the insertion of metal plates and carbon fibers.

Furthermore, the flooring of the small gym and the arrangement of the parquet of the main gym are planned, as well as painting, new external and internal windows and doors, and other finishes.

For the current school year, 1,084 students are enrolled at the Antonio Meucci Institute of Higher Education, distributed across 48 classes.
