Viareggio-Rapolano Terme: the route
It’s the day of the dirt road, protagonist in the second part of the stage with three different sectors and a total of 11.6 km. It runs in the province of Siena and the first 80 km will be quite simple. The situation will change with the rise of Volterra (8.6 km at 4.7%), after which there will be a continuous up and down until the finish line. The first two sectors of dirt road arrive 50 km from the finish line and are in rapid succession: Bagnaia (4.4 km). The second will also lead to the GPM of Grotti (3.3 km at 4.9%). The third dirt sector will be tackled 18 km from the finish line and measures 2.4 km. At the end, watch out for the tear Rapolano greenhouses, where the road is narrow and there are peaks of 20%. It finishes 4km from the finish line. Fraction full of dangers, especially if it were to rain.

3. From km 162.1 to km 164.5 (Pievina): 2.4 km long;
The favourites
Considering his ability on dirt, he has won the Strade Bianche twice, Tadej Pogacar he is the No. 1 favorite for the stage success in Rapolano Terme. Indeed, seeing the gaps that can be created in a stage like this, the UAE Emirates captain risks already killing the Giro.

How much is the prize money?
For this 2024 edition the organizers have maintained the prize money of past years, with the winner of the Giro d’Italia who will earn around 265 thousand euros, even if we are still very far from the prize money offered by the Tour de France. 11 thousand euros to the winner of each single stage, 20 thousand euros to the super fighter.
