The Italian victory in the Davis Cup which took place at the ‘Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena’ in Malaga in November 2023 becomes a postage stamp.

The stylized graphics on a white background show Captain Filippo Volandri’s boys in the act of lifting the Davis Cup trophy, the world’s top national team competition, which was dyed blue 47 years after the last victory.

A triumph that sparked the enthusiasm of an entire country, which months later has not seen a decline.

But there is also a “leaflet” edition which instead of stylized graphics shows a photo with the faces of the protagonists of the victory: Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, captain Filippo Volandri, Jannik Sinner, Simone Bolelli and Lorenzo Sonego.

In addition to the stamp, a coin and a medal for collectors

The illustrative bulletin accompanying the issue is signed by Angelo Binaghi, president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation: “It took almost half a century to repeat the 1976 Davis Cup victory in Chile”. The team has brought back to Italy “what is probably the most iconic trophy in the world of sport. Not only because we are talking about the oldest team competition but because – concludes Binaghi – playing in Davis is the dream of millions of kids in the world who bring you closer to this wonderful discipline.”

Enthusiasts and collectors will also have the opportunity to purchase a coin and a medal celebrating the Italian victory made respectively by the Polygraphic Institute and the State Mint.
