Frost. His name, especially in the almost preliminary phase of this electoral campaign, has often been at the center of political discussions. The former city councilor Piero Lo Nigro, a historic figure in the socialist area, will not be present at the administrative elections at the beginning of June. He chose not to run himself, even though there are candidates who come from the reference group. Lo Nigro had been identified by the moderates as a solution to give representation to the political agora. For the moderates, he had to be the candidate for mayor, capable of bringing together progressives, civic and indeed centrists. The final decision, however, fell on the former councilor Terenziano Di Stefano, with the approval of the vice-president Ars Nuccio Di Paola, guarantor of the agora. The moderates subsequently did not find full unity of purpose and now have different positions: the Renzians of Italia Viva have become glue with the center-right parties and support the engineer Grazia Cosentino while Moderati-Rinnova is one of the lists of “Alliance for Gela” , with Salvatore Scerra running. “In a few days – specifies Lo Nigro – I will make a statement through which I will clarify my political position and the reasons that led me to make certain choices”. Lo Nigro, from the beginning, was convinced that the agora and the context of the moderates could find a square, reaching an agreement. The pact did not materialize. The socialist exponent does not distance himself at all from the perimeter of the centre-left. “I look at the PD list – he also says – there are dear friends of mine and others could be added. We are doing some evaluations. There are changes taking place in this political area.” Many, even now, ask him to change his mind, perhaps with a candidacy for the civic assembly.
