05/08/2024 – The Autogiro d’Italia will stop in Pesaro tomorrow. The granfondo road car race, now in its sixth edition, has been a fixed event in the Historical Challenges panorama since 2019 and which from this year sees CNA among its partners.

The arrival of the historic cars in the city of Rossini is scheduled for tomorrow around 5pm in Piazza del Popolo. The Autogiro caravan will travel the roads of the province coming from Ravenna for a 198 kilometer itinerary designed specifically for the fourth stage of the race which started in recent days from Arezzo.

This is a regularity test where the competitors will have to respect a timetable or simply a tourist raid; this is the spirit with which the crews are called to face an evocative route in stages that takes them through fascinating places and scenarios. The fourth stage, (the Ravenna-Pesaro), of 198 km, will land in Piazza del Popolo and then set off again the following day at 9.00 am from Piazzale della Libertà.

Tomorrow’s stage will begin with a visit to the Byzantine mosaics of San Vitale and Galla Placidia, an essential stage of the stop in Ravenna. Subsequently the route will take the caravan to Forlì and the Savio valley. The cars will then enter the Marche region: first a Macerata Feltriathen to Sassocorvaro, Casinina, Montecalvo in Foglia and then into the beautiful one Urbino. From the cradle of the Renaissance the caravan will head towards Pesaro passing through Tavullia, Gradara and the Panoramica San Bartolo to get to Piazza del Popolo.

The Autogiro participants will spend the night in Pesaro to leave the next day from Piazzale della Libertà (for the fifth stage), which will wind completely through the Marche region. Before arriving at the hills and sea of Ancona, the Autogiro will cross other towns in the province of Pesaro and Urbino; between these Mombaroccio, Cartoceto, Calcinelli, Orciano, Mondavio and San Michele al Fiume and then move towards the regional capital, but also to the Conero Regional Park, a protected natural area with the famous rocks and the sanctuary of the Santa Casa di Loretto, a place of veneration that receives faithful from all over the world. But not only. There will be stops too Filottranoa panoramic village on the Ancona hills, Recanati, the city of Leopardi, and many other villages known for their beauty will be part of the stage which will end in Senigallia at the Rotonda a Mare.

CNA, national partner of the event, supports the Autogiro which will wind throughout central Italy and which has chosen to cross villages and cities in the Marche region. “I applaud the organizers – says Moreno Bordoni, CNA secretary of the Marche – for having chosen to cross our region on a fascinating itinerary. We are a beautiful region, rich in history, culture and tradition and this way of traveling through it, with valuable historic cars, is a way to rediscover it in all its essence.”
