“If the citizens of Cremona will trust me at the polls, I will immediately address the disastrous situation in which the Galimberti Virgilio council is leaving the car parks in via Dante; mainly used by commuters. The problems are relevant and complex and concern both structures and public order,” he says Alessandro Portesani candidate for the center-right in the elections of next 8 and 9 June, commenting on the events that are happening in this area of the city.
“Because of bad maintenance and of theabandonment of the first car park created, some rubble is collapsing right on the access ramp. For this reason, the technicians had to cordon off the access ramp and only by pure chance did they not hit a parked car. The blockade caused is causing quite a few parking problems for users. A further problem especially with commuters who already have to deal with train delays on the Cremona-Mantua line. It is clear that if there had been care for the artefact, none of this would have happened,” says Portesani.
“And all this adds up – explains the centre-right candidate – to the equally disastrous management of the construction of the second car park which was supposed to open in 2023 but is currently still closed as the works are underway. Perhaps only the next elections could perform the miracle of opening before the vote. The series of delays that characterized the construction of the car park was endless and which Galimberti and Virgilio were unable to avoid. Now councilor Simona Pasquali places the blame on the recent rains: perhaps we should have accelerated earlier and not end up dragging the works to this point”.
“But there are not only structural and logistical problems – Portesani concludes in his speech -. Many citizens have reported continued public order problems. Already a few months ago, images of gangs of young people attempting thefts inside parked cars had appeared on social media and in the media. Now the trend has begun for some idiots to sit in groups on cars, causing problems for the car bodies. Here too it is evident that there is no type of control by the municipal police who should monitor more intensely in the park. In this regard, our program includes the completion of the police force to ensure greater attention in this place too. And this will be one of our priorities.”
