Sport and entertainment in the name of integration. The athletics field of Rosignano Solvay took place on May 4th 23rd edition of the Special Olympics Games, competition organized by the Efesto association and reserved for athletes with intellectual disabilities and valid for qualification for the national phases. An event with great news, starting from the fact that the athletes have returned to compete at the Rosignano field, which has been renovated. Ninety athletes who competed, coming from all over Tuscany and belonging to various realities (ASD Efesto, Zenith Livorno, Atletica Pistoia, All Star Arezzo, Gam, ACSI Montelupo).
Before the start of the races the usual parade along the city streets: athletes, coaches and parents crossed the center of Rosignano Solvay to reach the field. Then the lighting of the Olympic torch by an athlete from Hephaestus, Giorgia, together with the Olympic judoka Giulia Quintavalle. Another athlete, Gianmarco, read the Special Olympics oath “that I can win, but if I don’t succeed, that I can try with all my strength“.
Following are the best wishes from the mayor, Donati Daniele, and the councilors Prinetti Alice and Beniamino Franceschini. For the Solvay company, which has been close to Efesto for years in the organization of initiatives and economic support, Antonello De Lorenzo spoke, bringing greetings from the director Nicolas Dugenetay. Finally Riccardo Nannetti, president of the Agency for Sport, who wished them a good day.
Moved Cristina Santinelli, elected president of Asd Efesto for about a month, who thanked “all those who work for the association: technicians, volunteers and management thanks to whose help the event was possible”. Santinelli wanted to remember the Efesto athletes who passed away in recent years (Luca Bianchi, Ilaria Giari, Clara Bianchi, Fabo Pizzi, Lorenzo Antonelli, Leopoldo Bellucci, Giancarlo Canapini, Francesco Catalano, Carlo Trionfo, Francesco Vegnuti, Gina Dondoli, Roberto Magnani), whose names were written on a banner held by the boys.

At the end of the meeting the “big family” of sport moved to Rosignano Marittimo for a lunch in the party area (organized by the women of the Marittimo Pro Loco), with lotteries, fun and lots of music.
