CYCLING GIRO D’ITALIA: EVERYTHING READY FOR THE EIGHTH STAGE IN PRATI DI TIVO | Current news

TERAMO – There is great anticipation for the arrival of the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia scheduled for Saturday 11 May in Prati di Tivo, on the wonderful Teramo side of the Gran Sasso, starting from Spoleto, and which will also cross the Abruzzo municipalities of Montereale, Capitignano, Aprati and Pietracamela.

Then on Sunday Abruzzo will once again be the protagonist with the ninth stage starting in Avezzano and arriving in Naples, with the pink circus which will also cross the Abruzzo municipalities of Civitella Roveto, Civita d’Antino and Balsorano.

As regards the arrival of Prati di Tivo on Saturday, in recent days the meetings between the local institutions have intensified and are coordinating the initiatives to encourage the orderly influx of the public to guarantee a great day of sport and promotion for the the entire Teramo territory.

This morning the update of the activities was presented by the president of the Province of Teramo Camillo D’Angeloby the president of the GAL Gran Sasso Laga, Carlo Matoneof the Pietracamela councilor Salvatore Florimbiof the councilor of Montorio al Vomano Mariangela Cortellinibeyond Maurizio Formichetti representative for Abruzzo of RCS Sport ea Luigi Di Giosia GAL consultant for sporting events.

The use of the bus service obviously remains the priority method of access for the public of enthusiasts who want to follow the race: booking the service is recommended but not mandatory; the service will be guaranteed to everyone, within the limits of vehicle availability.

The shuttle buses will leave from the sports facilities (Pigliacelli stadium) of Montorio al Vomano from 8.00 to 11.30 to allow arrival in Prati di Tivo at 12.30. The organizers’ invitation is to arrive as early as possible to allow as many people as possible to board and allow more trips to be made.

The first bus stop will be at the MAP square in Pietracamela for those who prefer to continue on foot and move freely along the route (about 6 km) up to the arrival village, while the second stop is at the Prati bassi di Prati di Tivo crossroads ( near the Miramonti hotel).

According to the indications of the Police Headquarters, access to private cars will be permitted without fail until 9.30 am from the Arno bridge junction on the SS 80 and it will be possible to park in the following areas: after the first 2-300 meters from the beginning of the road to Cima Alta from the Prati di Tivo square to the Laghetta; in the section of the ring road from the Prati di Tivo hotel to the Miramonti hotel; in the car park of the church of San Leucio di Pietracamela; along the variant from the “località Ferrocemento” crossroads up to approximately 200 meters from the “MAP zone” crossroads (the last 200 meters will be reserved for shuttle buses); along the road that leads from the Intermesoli crossroads to Fano Adriano.

If available parking spaces run out earlier, traffic will also be blocked before 9.30 am.

Vehicle access for residents, economic operators and workers working in the Municipality of Pietracamela will be permitted until 11.30 am from the Arno bridge junction on SS 80.

Amateur cyclists will be able to transit until 11.30 am, preferably not in large groups.

To facilitate viewing of the entire stage, the Municipality of Pietracamela will install 3 large screens: at the Intermesoli crossroads (refreshment point); in Piazza degli Eroi in Pietracamela, in the Piazzale dei MAP just outside Pietracamela (refreshment point).

The return will be activated as soon as possible after the exit of the pink caravan commanded by the Traffic Police, predictably no earlier than 1.5-2 hours from the end of the race.

“We invite enthusiasts to use the 15 buses made available by the Gran Sasso Laga GAL – suggests president Carlo Matone – also to encourage rapid vehicular flow and encourage the widest participation. The opportunity is extraordinary to give visibility to our territory and to demonstrate the civic and sporting sense of our fellow citizens”.

“We received a contribution from the Abruzzo Region which was added to the availability of the Province – said the president Camillo D’Angelo – which allowed us to complete the safety of the roads and asphalts in good time to facilitate the best reception of the cyclists and the entire organization of the Giro. It will be a day of great celebration.”

“I want to thank the president of the Abruzzo region Marsilio and the president of the GAL Gran Sasso Laga Matone – said Maurizio Formichetti, RCS representative for choosing to promote our region through cycling, a winning choice because it is sustainable and because it is a sport followed by thousands of spectators and television viewers. I am proud to captain Abruzzo in the Giro-E which anticipates the stages of the pink race and which will also see the participation of president Marsilio in the L’Aquila-Prati di Tivo stretch”.

“We have put in place all the initiatives to facilitate the participation of the public and residents, also encouraging the viewing of the race through large screens and the presence of refreshment points also along the route from the village to the Prati – said Salvatore Florimbi, councilor of the municipality of Pietracamela – for this reason we recommend following the rules established by the authorities for inflow and outflow. In the historic center we will wait for the tour starting from Friday starting at 6pm with the Setak concert and the aperitif in Piazzale degli Eroi organized by the Pro Loco”.

Another important place is Montorio al Vomano which, in addition to being the departure and arrival point of the shuttle buses, will host the “Staging Quarter” inside the Zoccolanti Convent and the delegation of national and international journalists: “We will welcome the press by making known our territory and pampering them with our food and wine specialties – concluded the municipal councilor Mariangela Cortellini – and we will guarantee all those who will be in the city to see the entire stage through the giant screen located in Piazza Orsini and to participate starting from 7pm on Saturday at the big party dedicated to the promotion of our Montorio 88 football team to Excellence.
