Reggio Emilia After leaving the center-right coalition that supports Giovanni Tarquini, the Civic Alliance of Reggio Emilia, a movement founded by the former city councilor Cinzia Rubertelli, will run alone in the electoral competition of the local elections in June.
Candidate for mayor is Giuliana Reggio, mother of Jessica Filianti, victim of femicide in 1996, who was killed at 17 by her ex-boyfriend. A list of 18 women and 14 men supports the candidate.
«For the third time the women and men of Alleanza Civica present themselves to the city in the awareness of interpreting the requests of that large part of the citizens who no longer feel represented by the national parties – they explain from the electoral committee, formed by the outgoing councilor Filippo Ferrarini and by the historic exponent Stefania Violi – This is more evident considering that the parties sought civic candidates to cover their political sinking and local representation, only to then nullify the civility of these candidates in the old party logic”. Giuliana Reggio adds: «Here we are, ready for the electoral challenge: we have a team of willing, competent citizens, who no longer want to complain or even continue to suffer a self-referential and even somewhat arrogant administration, enthusiastic about being able to give one’s contribution for the good of the city.”
The candidate continues: «We know it will be an uphill ride, but also very stimulating and conducted on the wings of an enthusiasm that has never been lacking in Alleanza Civica.” After the «fruitless attempts to create a united front of the moderate oppositions, we have realized that the center-right is more concerned with its internal dynamics than with trying to win and bring an authentic alternative. Alleanza Civica has therefore decided to continue its ten-year journey alone, at least in the first round, for a truly civic, non-partisan change, focused on the desire for change that the City has been waiting for for some time”, concludes the candidate for mayor. That with the other members of the list, you will meet the citizens every Friday morning – from 9 to 13 – at the “Reggianello” bar in Corso Garibaldi.
