Municipality of Quartu Sant’Elena – TRANSLATION INTERVENTION, FOR CONFIDENTIALITY REASONS CEMETERY CLOSED FOR 8 DAYS

The municipal cemetery of Quartu was off limits for a few days to proceed with the transfer of a suitable number of bodies. A health and hygiene issue, but also of confidentiality, considering the fact that this is not a single case, force the temporary closure of the cemetery, but at the weekend it will still be possible to go and visit your loved ones.

In the cemetery area it is necessary to carry out extraordinary exhumations and translations. In fact, there are several bodies that will be moved to the new burial niches recently completed. A long and delicate job, which therefore requires several days of work: it will start on Monday 13 May and presumably end on Friday 24 cm

An intervention that must be carried out in full compliance with all bureaucratic rules, for hygienic-health issues, and necessarily with the utmost discretion and delicacy of the case. Extraordinary operations which, in order to guarantee absolute confidentiality, will be carried out without the participation of relatives or obviously other users; therefore, only the presence of the service personnel responsible for the transfers and the ATS service which must prepare the various authorizations is required.

The cemetery will therefore remain closed on the dates of 14, 15, 16, 17 and then, in the following week, on 21, 22, 23 and 24 May, for the entire working day. Directives that will cease in the event of early conclusion of the exhumation process; in fact, it will be the responsibility of the workers to carry out the operations in the shortest time possible.

If the intervention plan allows it, and therefore following a possible shortening of processing times, the cemetery structure will be reopened early. In confirming that the cemetery will normally be accessible to citizens on weekends, the service will resume with the usual regularity from Tuesday 28 May, according to the summer timetable: from Tuesday to Friday from 08.00 to 11.50 and from 16.00 to 17.50; Saturday all day from 08.00 to 17.50; Sundays and holidays from 08.00 to 12.50.
