(Sixth Power) – Forlì – 8 May 2024 – On the afternoon of 7 May the conference entitled “The hospital that isn’t there” was held at the Chamber of Commerce of Forlì, organized by Daniele La Bruna, candidate for the council municipality in the list “La Civica Forlì Cambia – Zattini mayor”.
The theme of the meeting was the importance of the presence in Forlì of a rehabilitation hospital for serious brain injuries, following the example of the “San Giorgio” in Ferrara, an international excellence.

“I want to fight for this hospital, it is the main purpose of my candidacy for the city council” said Daniele La Bruna. “To date there is only one in the whole of Emilia-Romagna, in Ferrara, but it has few beds, it is very difficult to access and requires a long stay in hospital. The objective is to restore dignity and quality of life to brain-injured patients, who often leave the treatment departments without specific rehabilitation. Instead, we must think about their future, make them as autonomous as possible so that they do not have to depend entirely on their family members”, declared by Daniele La Bruna, who lived this experience with his son Carlo, who was involved in a very serious motorbike accident at 20 years old. does.

Mayor Gianluca Zattini intervened, opening the proceedings, recognizing the ambition of the project and expressing his complete support for its implementation, as a way to further root the Faculty of Medicine in the territory, which could expand the offer to specialist addresses in Rehabilitation and Speech Therapy, as well as maintaining high attention on the importance of having excellent healthcare at the service of citizens.

Present at the meeting were two important members of the “San Giorgio” hospital in Ferrara, Dr. Paolo Boldrini and Dr. Maria Rita Magnarella, as well as Dr. Germano Pestelli, former head of Rehabilitation Medicine at the “Morgagni-Pierantoni”.

They brought their experience of many years of working with patients of all ages seriously affected by accidents, heart attacks, strokes, showing the importance of specific medical and psychological support, with the fundamental involvement of family members, ultimately aimed at reacquiring of the maximum possible autonomy of patients and to the understanding that, despite changed living conditions, everyone has the possibility and the right to restore dignity to their lives and to have their own role in society.
