The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has published a notice to fill two mooring/boatman positions. Whoever is selected will be included in the group of moorers and boatmen in the port of Palermo. The application for participation must be submitted by June 2nd.
The requirements to participate
Candidates must meet the following requirements: age not less than 18 years and not more than 45 years (the maximum age limit is exceeded at midnight on the day of the forty-fifth birthday); Italian citizenship or citizenship of another European Union State, provided that the candidate has adequate knowledge of the Italian language demonstrated with the B1 level Common European Framework of Reference for Languages certification issued by an accredited body; healthy and robust physical constitution; not having been convicted of a crime punishable by a minimum sentence of three years’ imprisonment or smuggling, theft, fraud, embezzlement, receiving stolen goods and other crimes against public faith, unless rehabilitation has occurred; have completed 2 (two) years of navigation on deck duty on merchant and/or military ships, and/or pleasure vessels as defined by law.
Navigation on military ships carried out in the categories of helmsman, telecommunications and discovery specialist, gunner, weapons technician, diver, raider, administrative and logistics service specialist, port helmsman of deck specialties, sailor of all qualifications and qualifications divers of any category are equivalent to deck navigation on merchant ships.
Navigation carried out on larger and smaller vessels, including those used for port services and navigation carried out on vessels used for local traffic and coastal fishing, is considered valid for this competition, regardless of the tonnage of the vessels themselves and the qualification held, provided that the technical equipment on board is arranged in such a way as to allow the performance of engine and deck duties indifferently; professional title of Head of Boat for local or higher traffic, provided that he is qualified to command the nautical means necessary to carry out the service; registration in the first category of seafarers; category B driving license.

Applications must be submitted by June 2nd: by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt to be forwarded to the Port Authority of Palermo – Via Francesco Crispi n. 153 – 90133 Palermo; directly to the Port Authority of Palermo, no later than 2pm on the last day for submitting applications; by sending the application via your certified email address (PEC) to the following address: [email protected].
