Macfrut, a showcase dedicated to fruit and vegetables now in its 41st edition, was inaugurated today (Wednesday 8 May) at the Rimini fair.
An increasingly international event which this year has 1,400 exhibitors, 40% of whom come from abroad. Added to these are 1,500 top buyers with the support of the Ice Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“This format is very attractive in particular for developing countries – underlined the president of Macfrut Renzo Piraccini – they come here to sell their production, but also to buy technology, to acquire know-how, knowledge, because the real challenge of fruit and vegetables is to produce more. And these developing countries need to produce much more with less water, less fertilizers, fewer pesticides”.
“After Cibus yesterday, Macfrut today: another international event, a point of reference for the entire agri-food sector in the world – noted the president of Emilia-Romagna Stefano Bonaccini – From Parma to Rimini, Emilia-Romagna confirms itself as a leading region in food: with only 7.5% of the population, the export of our food exceeded 10 billion euros last year, the second largest item after mechanical and engines”.
The partner region of this edition is Puglia, whose regional councilor for Agriculture Donato Pentassuglia said: “Macfrut confirms itself as an excellent showcase from an international point of view. Being a partner region and being one these days is a source of great pride but also of great responsibility for the entire Apulian supply chain and all the operators who appreciated not only the daily modus vivendi of the fair, but also the opportunity for comparison at an international level ”.
