Anna Grimaldi’s book La Casa Museo “Domenico Mondo” will be presented to the public on Monday 27 May at 5.00 pm in the Conference Room of the Royal Palace of Naples. The history, the rooms, the pictorial decoration of a historic residence in Capodrise not far from the Royal Palace of Caserta, Saletta dell’Uva editions.

Domenico Mondo (Capodrise 1723 – Naples 1806) is considered by studies to be among the most brilliant draughtsmen of the Neapolitan eighteenth century and one of the most prolific Solimenesque painters, active in the second half of the eighteenth century, which he left in the territory of the province of Caserta, between Capodrise, Caserta, Marcianise and Capua, his major production of pictorial works mostly of a religious nature.
The volume, released at the end of 2023, the year that celebrated the 250th anniversary of the death of Luigi Vanvitelli (1773-2023) and the third centenary of the birth of Domenico Mondo (1723-2023), contributes to broadening the knowledge of an artist valuable and significant, constituting, to date, the
first monographic publication on the House Museum as a whole.
After her previous monographic works which have had resonance and feedback in various cultural and academic fields and her other scientific contributions, Professor Anna Grimaldi, art historian and scholar of pictorial production in the Neapolitan context between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, contributes with this latest research to add a new piece to the knowledge of the beauties of the historical and artistic heritage of the province of Caserta.

The meeting will be introduced by the Director of the Royal Palace of Naples, Mario Epifani and will see the intervention of Prof. Leonardo Di Mauro, full professor of History of Architecture at the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II; of Prof. Augusto Russo, researcher in History of Modern Art at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Naples Federico II and of Prof. Jolanda Capriglione, President of the UNESCO Club of Caserta.
Participation in the initiative is free while places last.
