VENICE, MAY 8 – The Veneto Region has opened a current account to raise funds for residents of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande Do Sul, hit by serious floods. This was announced by the regional president Luca Zaia. “Veneto – underlines Zaia – is extremely linked to this land, in which resides a large and deep-rooted community of descendants of Venetian migrants, in particular from the provinces of Belluno, Vicenza, Treviso and Verona and with whom we have had close ties, for at least twenty years, including international economic relations. The feeling that unites us is strong and knowing that entire families have now been without food, drinking water and electricity since April 27th has triggered the chain of solidarity.
