POZZUOLI – Bradyseismic crisis, the “Pozzuoli Sicura” Committee is promoting a demonstration for next May 22nd at 6 pm, at the municipal headquarters in the Toiano district, to ask the mayor to urge a very strong acceleration of the vulnerability checks of the buildings, also through the recovery of material investigation produced in the past; official information on the progress of the phenomenon not limited to the weekly bulletin of the Vesuvian Observatory; at least fortnightly information on the outcome of the work carried out by the technical teams; the creation of an assistance service, including of a psychological nature, coordinated with existing initiatives. A delegation of citizens belonging to the “Pozzuoli Sicura” Committee met on Sunday 5 May and discussed and assessed in depth the Pozzuoli situation in relation to the bradyseismic crisis. «The persistence of seismic swarms was noted, with peaks of significant intensity; the significant lifting of the ground in some parts of the city, particularly in recent weeks; the growing alarm of the citizens left between contradictory news and no information from the local authorities which cannot be limited to occasional events such as those of April 11th in Monterusciello, the Committee has decided to organize a demonstration to allow widespread diffusion especially in schools and in the workplace, to achieve citizen participation and protagonism in order to convey to political representatives at various levels, primarily the Government, that in a seismic emergency it is necessary to speed up the timing of checks and make precise commitments to approve a law that allocates funds for the safety of vulnerable buildings. Only in this way will it be possible to restore a little serenity, especially to the vulnerable groups who will have to live with a phenomenon that will never end, fortunately at the moment in the absence of volcanic risk, as scientists claim», we read in the note signed by the Committee spokesperson, Ciro Di Francia.
