“One, Nobody, 100 Giga”: Event against bullying in Sicily

The battle against bullying and cyberbullying takes on a new dimension in Sicily, with the launch of nine large events distributed throughout the provinces. An initiative that aims to promote moments of reflection, listening and creativity, also involving prominent figures from music, entertainment and culture as testimonials.

The project, entitled “One, Nobody, 100 Giga”, represents the culmination of the current school year. The result of an inter-institutional collaboration, it sees the involvement of regional institutions, schools and non-profit organisations. The Sicilian Region, through the Department of Education and Vocational Training, has allocated over 2.3 million euros to this initiative.

The 2021 regional law dedicated to preventing and combating bullying and cyberbullying provided the regulatory framework necessary to launch the project. A control room developed the guidelines, while nine territorial support centres, one per province, coordinate the activities in the field.

The final events, which involve a number of notable personalities, offer a broad spectrum of topics and activities. For example, in Catania, the Metropolitan Theater hosts the inaugural meeting on May 9th with the participation of actors, singers and athletes, while in Ragusa issues related to education and culture will be explored in depth.

Meetings with experts, creative workshops and moments of entertainment characterize the events that take place in various Sicilian cities. In Piazza Armerina, on May 16th, experts and institutional representatives will address the topic of bullying with in-depth analysis and creative workshops.

The world of sport also joins the initiative, with tournaments and activities organized by schools. In Caltanissetta, for example, the municipal stadium becomes the stage for an event that combines fun and reflection.

No less important is the stop in Messina, on May 28, which adds another important chapter to the fight against bullying in Sicily.

The main objective of these events is to raise awareness among the school community and the entire Sicilian society of the importance of combating bullying and cyberbullying. Thanks to the active participation of students, teachers, parents and prominent cultural figures, the fight against these phenomena takes on new energy and determination.
