He was hiding the drugs among onions and garlic, a street vendor from the Palermo area arrested by the police.

As part of a territorial control service, on charges of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances, the Carabinieri of the Mistretta Company arrested – in flagrante delicto – a 41-year-old street vendor from Palermo, already known to the Forces of the Order also for specific crimes.

The man was stopped by a patrol of soldiers from the local Aliquota Radiomobile of Mistretta, while he was driving his station wagon in that town. During the control operations, the individual showed an impatient attitude which led the Carabinieri to carry out further checks and carry out a search on the person and the vehicle. In the trunk of the car, well hidden among a large quantity of onions and garlic, the Carabinieri found 10 blocks of hashish, in vacuum-packed packages, weighing over a kilogram in total.

The man was therefore taken to the barracks, where the Carabinieri formalized his arrest. The drugs were seized and sent to the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina for the relevant laboratory analyses.

Having completed the formalities, the arrested person was placed under house arrest at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
