“We need checks and solutions to avoid damaging the AMC”

“In a session of the First Commission in the presence of the AMC leaders, I had the opportunity to raise an issue that I believe is not insignificant for urban roads and for the correct and effective management of public transport. As has been highlighted by many for some time, private bus lines continue to circulate in and out of the city and, more often than not, cause obstacles and slowdowns in the city center streets most exposed to traffic.
It is not just a problem of the management of vehicular traffic, as it concerns heavy vehicles, but also of a possible conflict with the timetables and methods of public service guaranteed by the AMC in the urban perimeter concerned. From what I understand, in fact, the same private buses proceed to ticket ticketing on board, therefore exercising a form of “unfair competition” towards the city mobility company, draining the users’ resources otherwise destined for the coffers of the subsidiary and, therefore, of the Municipality. I therefore wonder whether the activity of private bus lines has been properly regulated, in all the aspects highlighted, and whether the paramount public interest in a correct and transparent service has therefore been protected.
My request is that the AMC management proceeds with the necessary checks and requests to the relevant bodies, to safeguard and defend its business. Request that I also forward to the mayor Nicola Fiorita and to the councilor for the local police, Marinella Giordano, through whom it would be appropriate to ascertain the possession of regular authorization for transit and the methods of operation of private buses in the city. This is in order to avoid the risk of alleged damage to the treasury, due to lost revenue in the municipal coffers, without anything to point out to the companies with which the Administration and the AMC must start a fruitful dialogue. A proposal, also endorsed by the Commission, could be to establish a single integrated ticket that favors both the activity of the bus lines and that of the AMC in internal circulation, once you arrive in the city”.
