This morning the U – Elcome project was presented at the Fucino Space Center (Telespazio), the result of a partnership between Leonardo and Thales, which aims to deliver medicines by drone in the villages of the internal areas requesting the service .
“One of the major critical issues felt by citizens of internal areas has always been the difficulty in accessing medicines, especially in those periods of the year when bad weather gives no respite“, says theRegional councilor Mario Quaglieri. “This is why we, as the Abruzzo Region, are looking with great interest at the U-Elcome project, presented today in Telespazio’s Fucino Space Centre, the result of a joint venture between Leonardo and Thales”.
“LThe same objective is the delivery of medicines to residents in the Park area via drones coming from the hospitals of Avezzano and L’Aquila, which are thus delivered to the pharmacists of the municipalities participating in the initiative, and then sent by them to end users. An objective, it should be noted, which deserves our full support and appreciationor”.
“We expect a lot from technological evolution, so that it can facilitate the existence of those who, instead of living in metropolises, choose the internal areas of our Abruzzo“, he concludes.
